Cellist DARYL GOLDBERG has been praised by the 'New York Times' for her 'musicality, skill and commitment'.  A versatile musician, she performs frequently at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Broadway theaters with such orchestras as the American Ballet Theatre, Little Orchestra Society, New York Pops, Les Miserables and Lion King. She has served as Acting Principal Cello of both the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra and Chautauqua Opera during their summer season.

 

As a recitalist Ms. Goldberg has performed on many chamber music series throughout the metropolitan New York area.  She has been featurned in concerts at Alice Tully Hall, Merkin Hall, Weill Recital Hall, Oberlin College New Music Festival and the South Bank Concert Hall in London.  In 1992 she was presented in recital at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Patron Lounge.

She has performed throughout the state of New Jersey with the New Jersey Symphony and was a guest artist with the All Seasons Chamber Ensemble during their '93-'94 season.  She has toured Florida, the Midwest and the Orient as a member of the New York Pops and performed throughout the state of Connecticut as Principal Cello of Opera New England. In 1997 she was featured in a performance of the Brahms Double Concerto in the Chicago area with her sister, Sandra, who is a member of the Zurich Chamber Orchestra.

Her broadcasts include Robert Sherman's The Listening Room on WQXR, the National Public Radio Series, All Things Considered, WBAI's Around the Town, and Garrison Keillor's Prairie Home Companion.  She is featured on numerous Original Cast Recordings of Broadway and Off-Broadway shows, from Sweeney Todd to Hello, Again. She has also recorded for Columbia, CRI, and RCA.


Originally from Chicago, DARYL GOLDBERG attended Northwestern University and then the Yale School of Music where she received her Master of Musical Arts degree, studying with internationally esteemed cellist Aldo Parisot.  Other teachers have included Daniel Morganstern, Robert Gardner, Nathan Stutch, and Lynn Harrell.
