Marilyn Gibson

Marilyn Gibson, Violinist, appeared as concerto soloist with the North Shore Orchestra, the C. W. Post Orchestra, and Continuum, at Alice Tully Hall and in the Trio from I Lombardy with Eve Queler. She has performed in the first violin section of the Iceland Symphony, the Colorado Music Festival, the Opera Orchestra of New York and the American Ballet Theater, the Westfield Symphony and the Colonial Symphony.  She has recorded the Schumann and Mozart Sonata for the Iceland National Radio in Reykjavik, Marilyn's Song for solo violin in the new Joshua Rosenblum CD and chamber music for Classic Masters and Vienna Modern Masters.

Ms. Gibson is the founder and leader of the popular Herrick Trio, which is based in Teaneck and performs regularly in the New York City area. They performed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on the priceless STRADIVARIUS COLLECTION. The Herrick Trio appeared as a guest on the popular live music program from WNYC, Around New York. They were praised in the Strad Magazine for "bringing out the contrasting style of Joshua Rosenblum's Six Little Pieces and giving"a new dimension to Haydn's 'Gypsy' Trio". They were awarded two Meet the Composer grants for commissioned works written for the Trio. In January of 2002 they recorded Variations for Piano Trio, written for The Herrick Trio for a Joshua Rosenblum CD.

As an active member of the Bergen Poets, she was invited to perform at the Winter Solstice  in January, 2002, at the Leonia Public Library (pictured).  At that event, she performed the Bach E Major Partita and Marilyn's Song by Joshua Rosenblum on solo violin as well as a world premiere of her poem Beating the Odds, a poetic rendition of Hanging by a String.
Marilyn Gibson has also written Soul Songs, a book of poetry and The Light Messengers: Summoning Michael, a science fiction novel. Ms. Gibson's memoir, Hanging by a String, is now available at her website, Hangingbyastring.com or by calling 1-800-441-8786

Supporting the search for a cure, she performed for Robin Williams and other philanthropists at a National Kidney Foundation fundraiser in San Francisco.  She was the co-producer, writer and performer for Get into the Loop, a lupus benefit with fellow Broadway musicians based on Hanging by a String held at the Westbeth Theatre in New York.
