Marilyn Gibson
Marilyn Gibson, Violinist,
appeared as concerto soloist with the North Shore Orchestra,
the C. W. Post Orchestra, and Continuum, at Alice Tully Hall
and in the Trio from I Lombardy with Eve Queler. She has performed
in the first violin section of the Iceland Symphony, the Colorado
Music Festival, the Opera Orchestra of New York and the American
Ballet Theater, the Westfield Symphony and the Colonial Symphony.
She has recorded the Schumann and Mozart Sonata for the Iceland
National Radio in Reykjavik, Marilyn's Song for solo violin in
the new Joshua Rosenblum CD and chamber music for Classic Masters
and Vienna Modern Masters.
Ms. Gibson is the founder and leader of the popular Herrick Trio,
which is based in Teaneck and performs regularly in the New York
City area. They performed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on
the priceless STRADIVARIUS COLLECTION. The Herrick Trio appeared
as a guest on the popular live music program from WNYC, Around
New York. They were praised in the Strad Magazine for "bringing
out the contrasting style of Joshua Rosenblum's Six Little Pieces
and giving"a new dimension to Haydn's 'Gypsy' Trio".
They were awarded two Meet the Composer grants for commissioned
works written for the Trio. In January of 2002 they recorded
Variations for Piano Trio, written for The Herrick Trio for a
Joshua Rosenblum CD.
As an active member of the Bergen Poets, she was invited to perform
at the Winter Solstice in January, 2002, at the Leonia
Public Library (pictured). At that event, she performed
the Bach E Major Partita and Marilyn's Song by Joshua Rosenblum
on solo violin as well as a world premiere of her poem Beating
the Odds, a poetic rendition of Hanging by a String.
Marilyn Gibson has also written Soul Songs, a book of poetry
and The Light Messengers: Summoning Michael, a science fiction
novel. Ms. Gibson's memoir, Hanging by a String, is now available

Supporting the search for a cure, she performed for Robin Williams
and other philanthropists at a National Kidney Foundation fundraiser
in San Francisco. She was the co-producer, writer and performer
for Get into the Loop, a lupus benefit with fellow Broadway musicians
based on Hanging by a String held at the Westbeth Theatre in
New York. |
